“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God‘s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5: 16-18
I am always looking for a good book on prayer. The best book I have found is the bible. Praying is a key part of our Christian walk. Prayer changes things. The problems most of face is getting prayers answered. There is no magic tricks or formulas to getting prayers answered. It is walking in simple faith.
As a follow of Christ my prayer life is the key to my relationship with God. Back in the times of the New Testament they did not have the bible. The New Testament was written from epistles by those who were with Jesus. Their faith came from what they saw and knew about Jesus in the flesh. They witness his birth, death, and resurrections. Their faith came from their experience with Christ.
The simplicity of our experience with God is where our faith comes from. It is our experience with God’s faithful. It is what we know about him and our history with him that provokes great faith. The signs and wonders of God are for the believers and non believers that we may know him.
A great examples is if you went to a local bakery and had the best cake you ever tasted. The next time you wanted some cake you will think about that experience you had with that bakery. You will be compelled to go back to the bakery and buy some more cake. We are creatures of habit. Prayer is the same way when it comes to walking in faith. When you reflect on your experience with God you can think back to times when he has answered your prayer. Those are landmarks for your faith. Your faith is built upon what you know and experience of God through Jesus Christ. I have been healed by God many times. When I get sick, I have a reference point in my life of knowing he has healed me and my family before. I have been broke and without in my life. I have prayed for blessings and he had answered those prayer many times. God is a good God!
Our faith comes from our experience in a God that is faithful. If you go to God and see him as unfaithful, your prayers are hinder by doubt. Jesus died on the cross and rose again for us to have answers to our prayer. He will answer your heart desire. For many of us we don’t realize what the cross means in our lives. Many believers are struggling with simple faith of who Jesus is and what the cross means. Knowing that you are in his kingdom is a key factor in walking with Jesus. Go back to the gospel and revisit the teachings of Jesus. When you accept him in your heart and are filled with his spirit you are his. As you confess with your mouth salvation you are saved. Therefore you have a new relationship with God through Christ. God promise that all you need is in him.
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20
Simple faith in him and who is he to you is the starting point for answered prayers. As a believer it is our simple responsibility to believe God’s promise for our life in him. Have faith in God to answer your prayers and your needs. You are his child, so why would he keep any good thing from you?
Your experience with God will open the doors for more answered prayer as you believe in him. Your faith will get stirred up by praying. He has will do for you what he has done for others. Many of the things we ask God for he has already done for someone else in a similar way in the world at some time. He repeats his blessing over and over again in his love. And yet his mercy is new every day. He heals daily, he provide daily he restores daily, and he delivered everyday. The Spirit in you know how to pray for you what you need!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrew 11:1
Your needs are not an exception or out of heaven’s reach. Have faith in God to answer prayers for you as he has before in your life. Stop for a minutes and think of all the things he has done! Praise him like it is being done again by faith. I was going through some hard times once and God spoke to my heart about praising in faith. He showed me that in my heart that feeling of joy I get when he had answered my prayers after they was answer was how should feel before the prayer was answered. That same sense of praise of victory after the prayer was answered was simple faith in him. It was faith because I simply believed in him to move. I began to praise him with joy. The prayer was answered quickly in the following days. In my heart is was already done. I just believed without seeing it. I had faith in God in answering my prayer!
I was asking God for things that lined up with his will. I was not asking for sinful desires or evil wishes. I was asking for provision, healing, and help. Praise him because you know he will do it before it done! Praise is not a magic wand that will drop things from heaven. Praise and faith combine is a sincere act of victory that the God you serve is faithful in helping you in your times of need!
Faith is the key. It is not that we don’t have enough faith, but we are not using faith to get answered prayer. We are “holy wishing instead of believing. Just believe. Faith is not a wand you wave to trick God into moving. It is simply saying I believe in God. I believe that Jesus made a way for us to have our prayers answered. Faith says I believe!
As believer we are to believe. God will keep no good thing from you! You have nothing to lose in believing in Him to answer your prayers. Faith in Him is key. Faith can move mountains in your life. Faith can open doors for you no man can shut. Faith can heal you when you are sick. Faith will restore your marriage. Faith will cause you children to act right. Faith will open the windows of heaven if you believe. Faith can touch those around you are in need of prayer.
It is simple faith that Jesus taught in the disciples. Simply believe in Him. Have faith and you will see you prayers answered. Reflect on all the things God has done for you. Look back over your history with God…. hasn’t he been good? He has made a way for you many times before and this time is no different. Pray with faith not fears. Pray with boldness not concerns. Pray and see God move as you pray with simple faith. And after you prayer… rejoice if you really believe it is done!
Before you see it, know it is done and rejoice! Praise God for the prayers he has answered for you. Do it with a sincere heart of faith. Don’t shout and scream because you think you are supposed to. Praise him because you truly believe he has answered your prayer. God loves you and want to bless you. You are his child. He will move on your prayer as you have simple faith him. Just believe. Have faith that your prayer is answered. Pray without ceasing. Pray with faith. Rejoice always in prayer!
